AMCHAM Golf tourney on November 4

Premier Pacific International, a leader in residential construction, will be the main sponsor for the 4th Annual AMCHAM Charity Golf Tournament. Organized each year by the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Royal Colombo Golf Club, this year's tournament will be held on Monday, November 4, and is open to all golfers. Last year more than a hundred golfers - AMCHAM and RCGC members and business leaders - took to the links in search of victory, and fantastic prizes.

The AMCHAM Charity Golf Tournament is a fixture in the calendar of the Royal Colombo Golf Club. First played in 1999, the tournament has grown each year, providing a unique opportunity for the business community to gather, have fun and support a worthy cause. The funds generated through last year's event have been used to support improvements in the handling of hazardous waste at the Castle Street Maternity Hospital, including the purchase of a new incinerator. Support for this golf tournament is part of the American Chamber's commitment to strengthening business ties between Sri Lanka and the United States.

Earlier this year AMCHAM announced plans to promote the event as the Sri Lanka Golf & Business Tour 2002, encouraging participation by members from other American Chamber in the Asia Pacific.

The marketing response indicates that for American Chamber members the highlight of a visit to Sri Lanka would be the opportunity to meet and network with Sri Lankan counterparts in a more structured business setting. To capitalize on and encourage this growing investor interest in Sri Lanka, and promote Sri Lanka as a regional destination, the American Chamber is exploring the potential for attracting investors and business leaders to an Asia Pacific business and investment forum, to be held in Sri Lanka in early 2003. The additional planning required to meet the expectations for such an event has necessitated a postponement of this year's planned regional golf and business tour.

For now, all attention is focused on November 4th, and the 4th Annual AMCHAM National Charity Golf Tournament. Golfers are invited to come out and compete for fantastic prizes - awards, door prizes, special gifts, an excellent venue for golf, and the hospitality of our hosts, the Royal Colombo Golf Club, will ensure that everyone goes home a winner! And this year a festive apres-golf party and awards presentation is planned.

Golfers and non-golfers alike will have a chance to cheer the winners, and join in an evening of merriment and conviviality.
