Standards key to development - Industries Minister

by Kurunegala central special correspondent

The 21st century is described as the knowledge based century and sometimes information based century, said C.D.R.A. Jayawardane, Director General of S.L.S.I at a seminar held at Kandyan Reach Hotel in Kurunegala recently.

The Minister of Industries Rohitha Bogollagama while addressing said that standards and tests go hand in hand and are key to the development of the global market. Once these standards are accepted broadly at an international level, they can further foster the development of global market for goods and services. He said that peace is the most urgent requirement of the country today. All previous attempts to achieve peace had failed creating a sense of disgust in the people's mind. But this time the peace movements show definite rays of hope and it is the duty of all patriotic people to indulge in the peace process by extending their fullest support.

Chairman of S.L.S.I. Armyne Weerasinghe and Director General of S.L.S.I. Dr. Sirilal de Silva also addressed the seminar.
