CHC reactivates travel counter at Katunayake airport By Shirajiv Sirimane The Ceylon Hotels Corporation (CHC) has reactivated their travel counter at the Katunayake International Airport to meet the growing demand of local and foreign arrivals. Manager, Marketing and Travel, Hotels Corporation, (CHC) Ranjith Balasuriya said that the Chairman of the CHC, Bodhi Ranasinghe who saw a sudden increase of tourist arrivals in the recent past directed the CHC to upgrade this counter. "This was long overdue." He said that the CHC has reconditioned most of their old vehicles and have also hired additional cars to increase their fleet to 15 air conditioned cars and five vans. Lasantha Peiris will be in charge of the airport travel counter. The Hotels Corporation has also renovated their travel bureau at Galle Road, Colombo 3 at a cost of Rs. 9.5 million. This refurbishment also includes the renovation of the Hotels Corporation building at the same venue. The travel bureau is the oldest travel counter to be opened in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka and provides information on all subjects related to travel. Online bookings are also accepted at this counter. According to Balasuriya funds within the corporation were utilised for this refurbishment drive. He said that the Hotels school branch in Jaffna too is gaining momentum with more and more people wanting to enrol to the school. At present, the school has 40 students. |
