Cost of production hits apparel industry

Industrialists yesterday charged that the high cost of manufacturing made Sri Lanka less competitive in the global market, contributing to a contraction in industrial growth. Although the economy grew by 2.5 percent during the second quarter of this year the industrial sector which the Government is more keen on developing and depends on for the country's future economic growth, has continued to contract.
