Police pushes Ratnam to second slot by Bernard Perera Ratnam SC who got off to a flying start beating defending Premier League soccer champ Saunders SC in the first game was pushed down to second place in the points table after drawing their 8th game with Negombo Youth SC last weekend at Wennappuwa Stadium nil all. Two more games between Blue Star SC and Army SC and Old Bens vs Jupiters SC too ended in draws at Kalutara and Kotahena. Meanwhile the fourth game at Welisara Navy Grounds saw sailors go down to Java Lane SC by a solitary goal. This victory helped Slave Island club to occupy the fifth position in the points table. Police SC also after six victories out of 8 matches are on top with 19 points. Police drew one game and lost to Army 1-0. Saunders SC are placed third with the same number of points but they have played only seven matches so far. They have lost two games drew one and registered four victories. Old Bens tie right at the bottom with only one point after the completion of eight matches. They have lost seven games and drew with Army SC nil all in the last game. Saunders SC will go all out to come on top in next round of matches. |
