LTTE welcomes de-ban

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam welcoming the deproscription of the group have praised the "courage and strength of will demonstrated by the government of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe" towards taking the peace process forward.

In statements made to the media, the LTTE's political chief S. Thamilselvan said the group was hopeful and positive towards the talks. The ban, he said had been the biggest impediment to the talks.

Thamilselvan said this time the Tamil Tigers see a very graphic difference in the attitude of the Sri Lankan Government towards negotiations.
