NOTTINGHAM, England, Wednesday (AFP) - England, whose season has been disrupted by injuries, had further fitness worries after the conclusion of the drawn second Test against India here at Trent Bridge on Monday.

Batsman John Crawley is due to have a scan Tuesday on his left knee amid concerns he has torn his cartillage.

Meanwhile all-rounders Andrew Flintoff (groin) and Dominic Cork (knee) will both have scans to determine the full extent of their injuries.

And England's third pace-bowling all-rounder, Craig White, is to have further treatment on a side strain.

Number three batsman Mark Butcher played in the second Test, whose result left England 1-0 up in the four-match series, despite a longstanding knee problem.

However, he is due to play for Surrey in the next round of county championship matches starting on Wednesday.

If Butcher comes through that he should still be available for the third Test which starts at Headingley on August 22.

Also returning to first-class action Wednesday, is Andrew Caddick, who missed the first two Tests of this series because of a side strain.

England captain Nasser Hussain has insisted that his quick bowlers must complete a first-class fixture before returning to the Test side.

Caddick is one of four England fast men - the others are Darren Gough, Alex Tudor and Simon Jones - who have all missed Tests this summer because of injury.

On top of these difficulties, England saw key middle-order batsman Graham Thorpe announce an indefinite break from all cricket, due to personal problems associated with the collapse of his marriage, after last month's first Test victory at Lord's.
