Examination Commissioner A.M.R.B.Amarakoon retires today after four decades of public service. A first class administrator of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service, Amarakoon is a graduate in Business administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He had his post-graduate education from the University of Colombo. He joined the Examination Department in 1973 and held several key posts. In 1998 he was appointed Examination Commissioner. He introduced many reforms within the Department and took the initiative to launch a website to allow candidates to check their results on the Web. Amarakoon is a member of the advisory committees on educational reforms, education development and school examinations. |
