by Rashomi Silva Bus fares will not be increased despite a marginal increase in the prices of diesel announced last night, Chairman of the National Transport Commission A.B. Talagune told the Daily News. The prices of three petroleum products - Auto Diesel, Super Diesel and Lanka Kerosene went up by 50 cents with effect from midnight on August 14, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) announced yesterday. CPC Chairman Daham Wimalasena told the Daily News that the price rise was unavoidable as prices petroleum products have gone up in the international market. "The increase is very small. A corresponding bus fare hike will also be very insignificant. It is not practical to work on a bus fare increase," Talagune said. |
