The All Island Lanka Plate Billiards Final was played at Reid Avenue Billiards headquarters recently. A keen tussle ensued between M. J. A. Thasleem and M. W. Hashim both from Automobile Association of Ceylon, a home and home battle.

Thasleem an experienced player and Hashim an upcoming youngster of talent were equally matched. However, Thasleem was able to subdue the younger player winning the final by 3 frames to one to clinch the title. It should be noted that Thasleem also became the Colombo District Champion when he beat Nihal Dissanayake of Orient Club by 3 frames to nil.

The following six players, including the above two finalists have qualified to take part in the Round Robin stage of the National Championship. Fair Jhan (MLSC), Sunil de Silva (OAC), M. B. Abdulla (AAC), Jude Fernando (KGC), Ranjan Ranatunge (MRC), A. M. M. Hassan (PPP), Naresh Samarawickrema (YMBA, Galle) and M. A. Wahid (MLSC).

Dates and times of the Round Robin matches will be announced shortly.
