Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed to distribute free school text books within the first week of the first term, in January next year. PM will also set up a new unit under Sustainable Development Advisor K.H.J.Wijedasa to ensure the timely distribution of school text books. The unit will operate in coordination with the Secretaries of the Ministries of Education and School Development. In the meanwhile, the Prime Minister will be constantly alert about the new methodology relating to school uniform distribution and consider proposals to remedy any shortcomings. He has also decided to do away with the practice of issuing political messages along with the school uniforms and to issue extracts from ancient classical poems instead. |
