Sarvodaya peace meditation at Kopay

"Religion and the Arts for Permanent Peace" will be the theme of a two day Youth Camp organised by the Sarvodaya Peace Secretariat, Moratuwa at the Kopay Maha Vidyalaya grounds, Jaffna on August 6 and 7. The Youth Camp titled "Adaraneeya Tharuna Hamuwa" will utilise the current cessation of hostilities to provide a forum for countrywide youth to meet and exchange their views and ideas in a friendly atmosphere, said a spokesman for the Sarvodaya Peace Secretariat. A batch of 500 youth drawn from countrywide Sarvodaya villages will attend the camp which will include a special Shramadana campaign, a seminar attended by a group of intellectuals and a peace meditation as highlights of its program.

The peace meditation attended by a vast gathering of youth, Jaffna citizens and visitors to the North will be held at the Maha Kali Amman Kovil under the direction of Sarvodaya Founder Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne.

Several welfare activities have also been thrown in to make this camp a memorable one. Among them will be a distribution of free bicycles among a batch of 100 pre-school teachers and an exhibition of posters.

Steps have also been taken to donate a colour television set and a cassette recorder to the Kopay Maha Vidyalaya for hosting the camp.
