by Rashomi Silva. The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management has decided to build ten new tanks in the Trincomalee district, as a solution to the drinking water shortage in the district. Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said at a meeting held in the parliamentary complex recently. The minister further said that the government has allocated 160 million rupees for the rehabilitation and reconstructional purposes in Northern and Eastern provinces. The minister said it is the intention of the government to reconstruct and rehabilitate North and East to what once they had been before the war. Eastern Province MP and the Minister of Health P. Dayarathne said that he would allocate four hundred thousand rupees from his allocated funds for the welfare of the Madu pilgrimages. Health Minister P. Dayarathne, Minister of Rural Economy Development Bandula Gunawardana, Deputy Minister of Mahawili Development P. Chandrasekaran and Eastern province MPs Ferial Ashraff, M.H.M. Hisbulla and Ananda Dasanayaka were also present at the meeting. |
