Lankan know-how for German shrimps project The German Parliamentarian Eckhard Ohl has been successful in his efforts to tie economic contacts between north Thuringia and different states in the world. He started a factory to manufacture Water preparation plants for Shrimps - breeding in his hometown Schlotheim. Political opponents from the region had a good laugh at Mr. Ohl because he was advertising his region worldwide for investors. An Entrepreneur from the Federal State Hessen thought that to breed Shrimps in Germany was a good joke for cocktail parties. But Ohl's determination to go ahead with the project was even stronger. Since then Mr. Ohl began his contacts with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Germany . Being one of the largest Shrimps' producers in the world, Sri Lanka provided the technical know-how for the project. At present the former EDB Shrimps Specialist Jayamanne is in Schlotheim as an Advisor. Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Germany, Christopher Daneshan Casiechetty visited the project site and was very happy about the success of the venture. The Ambassador said Sri Lanka may have an interest in the processing-plants as the Shrimps - production in Sri Lanka has to face many ecological problems. Courtesy: Lanka News Berlin |
