Haque's unbeaten ton saves Bangladesh

by Chris Dhambarage

Ehsanul Haque hit a stylish unbeaten century as the touring Bangladesh team forced a draw to their three-day fixture against Sri Lanka 'A' at the Moratuwa Stadium yesterday.

Ehsanul Haque scored exactly one hundred not out as Bangladesh finished their second innings at 201 for 5 after they were set a victory target of 323 runs. The number three batsman settled down to play a long innings and occupied the crease for 198 minutes stroking fifteen boundaries. He was also associated in a fourth wicket stand of 72 runs with Habibul Bashar.

Earlier Sri Lanka 'A' closed their second innings at 168 for 7 after resuming from their overnight score of 73 for 3. They suffered an early setback losing opener Ian Daniel after adding just two runs to their overnight score. However skipper Prasanna Jayawardena held the middle order together with a determined knock of 49 and received good support from all rounder Muthumudalige Pushpakumara.

The two medium pacemen Munjural Islam and Alamgir Kabir put the brakes on the Sri Lankan scoring rate with some accurate bowling.
