A special Army team arrested three civilian intruders who stabbed a soldier on guard and tried to snatch a cache of arms from the Gajaba Regiment Camp at Saliyapura in Anuradhapura last Monday night.

Regiment Commander Col. Sumedha Perera said that the injured soldier was admitted to the Army hospital in Anuradhapura and the three suspects, residents of Angoda and Mulleriyawa, were handed over to the Anuradhapura police for further investigations.

Anuradhaura police is expected to arrest an army deserter in this connection soon.
