A nineteen-day Sri Lankan food promotion and show was inaugurated here in Male' at the Hullule Island Hotel adjacent to the Male' International Airport on the night of 4th July 2002 by the Minister of Tourism of the Maldives Hassan Sobir. This food promotion Show featuring traditional and modern dances of Sri Lanka by the internationally acclaimed Channa and Upuli Dance ensemble will continue till 19th July 2002.

A variety of Sri Lankan dishes ranging from pittu and kotturotti are hotly served to the visitors who flock to this Sri Lankan food show.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner in the Maldives T. Zarook A. Samsudheen, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Maldives Hon. Mohamed Saeed attended the function as the guests of honour. This event is organized by the Sri Lankan Food and Beverage Manager Ghazzali Mohideen attached to the Hullule Island Hotel. This promotion of Tourism related Food Show is conducted with the courtesies of SriLankan Airlines and the Connaissance Hotel of Sri Lanka.
