by Matara Central correspondent Matara District Secretary G.S. Ediriweera has taken effective measures through Divisional Secretaries, Grama Niladaries, Samurdhi Animators and other field officers and superiors in the villages in the district of Matara to control the widespread dengue epidemic in the district of Matara. He has also given specific instructions to the Divisional Secretaries in the district through Dengue Preventive Committees with a view to combat the deadly disease. Already very effective measures have been launched to arrest any further spread of the epidemic by the Divisional Secretaries on the able guidance of the District Secretary. Two deaths due to dengue fever have been reported from Weligama, as such the District Secretary has sounded the alarm bells regarding the extent to which the epidemic has spread. He has already summoned a feed back meeting of the Divisional Secretaries to assess and ascertain the extent of progress so far achieved in the control of the disease. |
