The DYLP as part of its activity has organised a five-day in-house resident workshop "Training for a New Generation of Democratic Leaders" from June 25th to 29th.

Democratic aspects of youth leadership, skills and values are the core content of the training. Among the topics addressed are democratic leadership skills, interpersonal communication skills, conflict management, advocacy and lobby skills for external communication, resource and funding management, role of youth leaders in democratic society and its mechanism, human rights, democratic values, norms and values, transparency and accountability in organisations etc.

The participants will be exposed to other youth leaders from a diverse number of organisations both in Sri Lanka and elsewhere. The workshop is an interactive participatory training enabling young leaders to reflect and internalise the concept of democratic leadership.

Holidaymakers in N'Eliya

With the long weekends, hundreds of holiday crowds are already here. There are heavy bookings at all holiday resorts according to those engaged in the trade.

But the usual weekend holiday crowds complain that guest houses, hotels and those rooms available for such crowds have increased their rates, and some of them prefer to visit the coastal belt in the North and East, which they say are comparatively cheaper, where they could rough out in the outskirts and in their vans and other vehicles.

But in places like Nuwara Eliya, they have to be inside the houses or rooms, considering the climatic conditions.
