Sebastian Ross first woman to chair N'Eliya PS

The United National Front group of members of the Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha took oaths before the Plantation Infrastructure and Housing Minister Arumugam Thondaman at an auspicious hour at the Pradeshiya Sabha Office Hall at Kotagala last Saturday April 27.

Ms. Sebastian Marinal Ross of the CWC was sworn as the first woman Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha while G.A.J. Gurusinghe of the UNP took oath as Vice Chairman.

Other members of the CWC P.Muthuraman Sathivel, P. Chandrasekaran Anthony, Deva Asirwatham, Palaniyandy, K. Kanthi, Gandhi and members of the UNP Wijeya Dayawansa also took oaths before the Minister.

Speaking at the oath performing ceremony Minister Arumugam Thondaman said that the administration of the past N'Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha faced to solve to problems of the ratepayers or in other words it was unsatisfactory because it lacked financial resources and this could be overcome as many departments which come under Pradeshiya Sabha come under my Ministry which is powerful and has all the resources. So I hope the Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha can give a better service to the public this time.

The Deputy Minister Muttu Sivalingam a former PC Minister V. Radhakrishnan and Deputy Commissioner Alagakoon also spoke.
