Astle ruled out of Pakistan tour RAWALPINDI, Wednesday (Reuters) - Nathan Astle, scorer of the fastest double century in test history this year, has been ruled out of the remainder of New Zealand's tour of Pakistan with a knee injury. Astle, who has torn a tendon in his left knee, will be replaced by Mathew Sinclair who joins the team on Saturday. "It is sad to leave the series in the middle but it is also important to have a further checkup on the injury," Astle told reporters before the second one-day international against Pakistan. New Zealand's frontline pace attack of Chris Cairns, Dion Nash, Shane Bond and Shayne O'Connor have already been ruled out of the tour through injury. In addition, New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming, Chris Harris, Robbie Hart and Daryl Tuffy are struggling with injuries and illness on the tour, which includes two test matches after the three one-day internationals. New Zealand lost the first one-day match by 153 runs last Sunday. |
