Nalin D. Perera does Team Caltex Proud

Nalin D. Perera of Team Caltex a driver with immense talent proved himself yet again at the Foxhill Super Cross 2002 last friday at Diyatalawa when he secured 2nd place in the super car event (Cars up to 3500cc).

The Super Car event was the much awaited race of over 150,000 racing enthusiasts present to witness the races, but bad luck struck Super Fox of 2001 Arvinda Premadasa when he had to pull out his car due to engine fault, hence giving way to Dinesh Deheragoda. For Nalin it was 'never say give up' he went on to chase Dinesh Deheragoda in his Mitusbishi evolution securing 2nd place. Witty Nalin certainly is a promising driver that could take Caltex racing to new dimensions in the future and even currently is tough competitor for the young Aravinda Premadasa.

Nalin did Team Caltex proud when he also won the Group A cars 8-10Kg/hp driving his Caltex Renault to the chequered flag with team-mate Zakie Ismail in 3rd place. Nalin excels in this event, he was also the winner at the Colombo Super Cross 2002 and was placed 2nd in the cars over 6kg/hp giving tough competition to the experienced Mannapperuma in his Honda.

Rizvi Farouk in his Caltex Honda VI-Tech won the Group M & T cars up to 1665 followed by Yoga Perera in his Caltex Mini. Yoga was also placed 3rd in the cars up to 1250cc in his Mini Moke. He was also the winner of the open cars event at the Nuwera Eliya road races held last weekend.

Prasana Ranasinghe in his Caltex Mitsubishi Pajero won the group T and J Diesel 3000cc event. Prasanna was in the lead and was certainly tough competitor for the young Shehara in her Nissan March in the 10-12kg/hp event, however to his dismay he was disqualified overtaking Shehara when the Yellow flag was on for danger.

Dilshard Hamdoon was placed 3rd in the cars over 12Kg/hp event when he overtook Anil Seneviratne also of team Caltex. Team Caltex secured the most number of wins with 3 wins having a total of 10 placings, while Team Mobil ended up with just 2 wins and a total of 6 placings.
