Samurdhi beneficiaries in income generating projects by Thihagoda group correspondent The joint Samurdhi Union of Thihagoda, Kamburupitiya and Kirinda has taken measures to engage Samurdhi beneficiaries in income generating projects. Under the program a centre has already been opened for the manufacture of wheelbarrows and iron tubs at Kamburupitiya. In addition grills, gates and many other, agricultural implements are also being repaired and manufactured there says the project manager D. L. Gajanayake. The Ruhunu Concrete works started at Kirinda has made a rapid progress cement bricks hume pipes, and other items of cement are being manufactured there. According to Samurdhi Union, there is a good demand for these goods at the open market at the moment. Samurdhi beneficiaries are also encouraged to start up line-stock projects in the area by the union. |
