Indicent at CNH : Eight suspects remanded

Eight suspects who were alleged to have been involved in the incident at the Colombo National Hospital were identified at an identification parade held before the Acting Maligakanda Magistrate Lloyd Grey on Wednesday.

On an application by the Police the eight suspects were remanded till April 22 by the Maligakanda Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ms. Sarojani Kusala Weerawardena.

Eleven other suspects who were not identified at the parade were granted bail. They were ordered to furnish surety bail in Rs.10,000 each. They were also directed to appear in Court on the next date, April 22.

Eight prosecution witnesses, six doctors and two police officers who were on duty on the day of the incident identified the suspects.

Investigations into the incident is directed by Colombo DIG Bodhi Liyanage and conducted by Colombo Central Senior SP Lucky Dissanayake and assisted by Chief Inspector A.R. Edirisinghe, OIC, Maradana Police.

Ajith Pathirana and Yasantha Perera appeared for the suspects.
