Colts win major awards

Colombo Colts Cricket Club defeated the Sinhalese Sports Club by eight wickets at the SSC Grounds recently and were crowned Champions of the Premier Division 1 Super Tournament 2001/2002 .

Colts received the Premier Champions Trophy and Rs. 400,000 from the BCCSL, while SSC received the Premier Runners-up Trophy and Rs. 250,000.

Chandrika Hathurusinghe of Moors was adjudged the Man of the Tournament and received Rs. 25,000. Mahela Jayawardena of SSC was the Best Batsman of the Tournament and also received Rs. 25,000. Nisitha Rupasinghe of CCC and Chamila Gamage of the Air Force shared the prize for the Best Bowler of the Tournament, and took home Rs. 12,500 each.

The Man of the Final was Muthumudalige Pushpakumara of Colts, received Rs. 25,000.

Moratuwa SC was awarded the Sara Trophy as Champions of the Sara Trophy Tournament together with an award of Rs. 150,000. Kandy CC were the Runners-Up and received the Runners-Up Trophy and Rs. 100,000. Chamal Rupasinghe of Ambalangoda Rio SC received Rs. 15,000 as the Man of the Tournament; Lucky Rogers Fernando of Moratuwa SC Rs. 15,000 as the Best Batsman of the Tournament; and Chaminda Hathurusinghe of Moratuwa SC Rs.15,000 as the Best Bowler of the Tournament.

The awards were distributed by the Chief Executive of the BCCSL Anura Tennekoon, Chairman of the BCCSL's Tournament Committee Group Captain Shriyan Samararatne, and Match Referee Roger Wijesuriya.
