by Telwatte group correspondent An STF police constable of Batticaloa who came on leave to Ambalangoda to attend to his housing construction died after knocking a metal against his head in front of his building site. The deceased was Dumingu Vithana Sudath Kumara (28) of Rathnahera, Aluthwala, Ambalangoda, attached to the 50th STF Camp, Batticaloa, a father of one and half year old daughter. At the inquest held his wife Vellage Nayana Shyamalee (23) giving evidence said that his husband came from Batticaloa on leave especially to attend the housing construction work on his land. On the day of the incident, a load of metal was brought in a canter lorry to the site, and her husband was helping to unload it, by throwing metal to the hillock, but suddenly a metal rolled downwards and knocked against her husband's head and thence he knocked against a concrete pillar erected there. Accordingly the Inquirer into Sudden Deaths K.K. Dayananda of Aluthwala recorded a verdict of accidental death. The post mortem was held by Dr. I.D.G. Kitulwatta, Asst. JMO Karapitiya General Hospital, Galle who reported severe injuries to the skull and excessive bleeding cause death The Hikkaduwa police conducted inquiries. |
