One hundred days development program of the Government : Puttalam district's progress

by Chilaw special correspondent

With the co-operation of the public the police has successfully conducted twenty-six raids on illicit transport of timber in the Puttalam district and made 1990 arrests for distillation and sale of illicit liquor during the past two and half months in the 100 days Development Program of the Government, Chilaw SSP Upali Ranasinghe said.

Besides, 94 Awareness Programs for police personnel have been held in the district to learn how they should interact gently with the public to earn their respect and esteem in dispensing their duties, and further projecting an image of 'a helper' of the public.

483 Peace Committees have been organised in the Chilaw police division in addition to 50 Sramadhana campaigns held in the Puttalam district. 57 seminars were also conducted for schoolchildren on the theme of peace and eradication of vice in society like smoking liquor addiction, etc.
