Hakeem urges Muslims to support peace process

SLMC Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem urged Muslims on Sunday to extend their support to the peace process and emphasised that "we should not let this opportune moment for peace be scuttled".

"We should give no room for the accusation that the Muslims sabotaged the peace talks. We should not let this opportune moment for peace be scuttled," Hakeem said, addressing a seminar at the Trincomalee Zahira Maha Vidyalayam.

The Trincomalee branch of the SLMC organized the seminar on "Peace process and Northeast Muslims" .

"There are forces that want to disrupt the peace process. We should give them no excuse to pass the blame on the Muslims," a TamilNet report quoted the Minister as saying.

"The time has come for the Muslims of the South to help their northeastern brethren realise their political aspirations," he added.
