Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, who is now on a six-day visit to Sri Lanka was accorded a guard of honour by the Sri Lanka Air Force yesterday morning. Air Chief Marshal Ali Mir is accompanied by two senior officers of the Pakistan Air Force. He will visit SLAF bases at Katunayake, China Bay, Sigiriya and Diyatalawa during his stay. He will also visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa and the Sri Maha Bodhi, Anuradhapura. He will pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Defence Minister Tilak Marapana, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Rohan de S. Daluwatte and the three Service Chiefs. His visit concludes on April 13. Air Chief Marshal Mir was commissioned as a fighter pilot of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in 1967. He has played a combat role on several occasions and held several key posts in the PAF. He has flown a range of combat aircraft including F-104, Mirage III, MiG 15, F16 and MiG 19, logging almost 4,000 flying hours. He assumed command of the PAF on November 20, 2000. |
