Opening of re-developed Vihara Maha Devi Park

The Vihara Maha Devi Park which was vested with the Urban Development Authority by the previous government and which was re-vested in the Colombo Municipal Council on January 1, 2002 has been redeveloped under the 100 day program of the new Government. It will be opened by Mr. Karu Jayasuriya, Minister of Power and Energy, Mr. Gamini Lokuge, Minister of Tourism and Mr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, Minister of Human Resources Development and Cultural Affairs on April 11th at 6.30 p.m.

The development project which is carried out on the instructions of Mayor of Colombo, Omar Kamil and under the supervision of Deputy Mayor, U. L. Titus Perera includes the re-arranging of all inner roads and avenues in an attractive manner and converting the children's playground into a full fledged children's playground with all modern play equipment. In addition, a boat service in the Park's Pool has also been arranged. The newly constructed "Min Medura" and the Birds Park will bring added attraction to the park.
