by Ananda Kannangara Two people were killed and eleven others were injured following a clash between two factions of Sinhalese and Muslims at Beruwela last evening. The injured people were later admitted to the Nagoda hospital and few of them were in a critical condition. It was reported that the clash had occurred over a land dispute and the situation was completely brought under control by the Beruwala Police within a short duration. Two houses were also destroyed by fire during the clash. Meanwhile, a police curfew was also imposed in the area from 7.30 pm and the Beruwala Police deployed special units to prevent further clashes. |
