Minister of Industries Rohitha Bogollagama as directed by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has undertaken an Industrial and Business Promotion mission to Jaffna on March 12. This is the first visit undertaken by the Government in having the industrial promotional drive in the Jaffna peninsula after the official ceasefire. A group of local and foreign investors, representatives of industrial, trade, commerce, tourism and financial sectors, numbering over twenty-five participants will join Minister Bogollagama. The Minister will meet industrialists, manufacturers and producers of the North to solve their operational problem. The Minister will also focus attention on the supply of building materials to the North and set up regional offices of institutions coming under the purview of the Ministry. With the improvement of the conditions in the Northern and Eastern areas, it is anticipated that the economic activities, particularly the industrial sector could be revitalised and a major boost given to the re-development of the war torn areas. |
