by Panadura group correspondent Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader, Minister Rauf Hakeem said all Muslims in our country must support the United National Front Government because Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is an honest and genuine leader who had taken steps to sign the Ceasefire Agreement to end the 20 year old war which had claimed thousands of lives of members of the Armed Forces and the innocent civilians in the North and East and other areas. If any one is against this agreement and trying to create disturbances in the country, he must be branded as a traitor. He was addressing a Janahamuwa held at Henamulla, in the Panadura electorate on Friday to inaugurate the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha election campaign in support of the UNF candidates. There were Muslim Congress candidates also in the UNF list. Mr. Hakeem said Muslims live as brothers in one family without any problem under the shade of the UNF Government led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. When we were in the People's Alliance government we were cheated by its leader Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. The UNF leader Ranil Wickremesinghe wishes to end the war by means of a political solution. To find out a way he has already signed a Ceasefire Agreement with LTTE leader V. Prabhakaran to bring him before a round table conference to discuss the matter to end the war. As Muslims, we are very happy about the action taken by our Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. As a gratitude the citizens of Sri Lanka must give the power of all Urban Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas and Municipal Councils to the UNF government strengthening the hands of the Prime Minister. Mass Communication Minister Imthiaz Bakeer Markar said there were three Cabinet Ministers in the Kalutara District to serve the Panadura electorate. Panadura Electorate UNP Balamandalaya President Mervyn J. Cooray and UNF candidates Ambrass Majeed and Rupesiri Openayake also spoke. |
