by Tissamaharama special correspondent The Hambantota district secretary Ananda Amaratunga said that there was the possibility of reaping a harvest of 65,000 metric tons of paddy in the Hambantota district this season. The target was one lakh of metric tons but that could not be achieved due to acute shortage of water. By March 15, paddy harvests in the district would be reaped. Then the price of a kilo of paddy will be Rs. 15 and a kilo of rice would be Rs. 25. |
