Sarvodaya peace gathering at Anuradhapura

A Peace gathering organised by the Sarvodaya Shramadana Sangamaya to show solidarity with the ongoing peace process will be held on March 15 at Anuradhapura sacred city.

Nearly 500,000 people are expected to participate in the peace gathering which will be open to all sectors of society irrespective of their age, class, caste or creed.

A similar event was organised in August 1999 at Viharamaha Devi Park in Colombo and it received a tremendous response from over 170,000 people participating to meditate and pray for peace for the country.

After the Anuradhapura peace gathering Sarvodaya will be launching their 'Village to village Heart to Heart' program under which people from 1,000 selected villages will go to the North and East from time to time to help rebuild the war torn home towns of Northerners.
