Houses for poor families in electorate

by Kegalle special correspondent

It has been proposed to select three areas from the Yatiyantota electorate and construct in the selected areas 150 houses to be alienated to the poor families in that electorate. This was disclosed to the Daily News by Sujith Sanjaya Perera, the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Member in the area.

This project has been planned on the basis of the 100-day program of the United National Front government on the instructions of the Minister of Housing Development P. Harrison.

Already several areas have been identified to implement this project and those localities selected are Rangalle, Gonagomuwa, Panapitiya and Hudahapita.

It is also being proposed to provide identity cards to those individuals who are without identity, cards in the remote villages and particularly many estate workers in the area.

It is also being suggested to provide lands legally to those who are occupying state lands and that these proposals will go into effect soon, states Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Member Sanjaya Perera.
