Sri Lankan student wins colours in New Zealand Sahan Senadheera, a Sri Lankan student domiciled in New Zealand with his family has won the covetous title of School Cricketer of Glenfield College, Auckland for 2001 for the third consecutive year. All rounder Sahan made his best performance in his cricket career (150 runs and also 8 wickets for 62 runs with a Hat Trick) against Rangito College - in secondary school cricket tournament held in 2001. He played for under 17 North Harbor Cricket Team in the District Tournament in 2001/2002 and is selected as the Captain of the First XI school team for 2002. He also played for group "A" warm up matches in under 19 World Cup tournament this year representing a prestigious Cricket Club in Auckland. Sahan's cricket career in Sri Lanka commenced at Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya way back in the early 1990s when he was 10 years old and recently he had the opportunity to obtain coaching under Messrs W. A. N. Silva and Jayantha Seneviratne's in Colombo when he was on holidaying in Sri Lanka with his parents. |
