Mohottivatte Gunananda Nayaka Thera, F. R. Senanayake and the Venerable Mahinda of
Sikkhim. Referring to statues and national leaders Martin Wickramasinghe "the
pre-eminent figure in modern Sinhala literature ....in newspaper and literary
journalism" has often times observed, says Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera - a well-known
writer, that "Mr. D. R. Wijewardene is the only national figure that deserved a
