A new batch of 150 officers are to be recruited to the Sri Lanka Administrative Service shortly to fill the existing vacancies based on the results of the SLAS examination held in June last year. This follows a decision taken by Public Administration Management and Reforms Minister Vajira Abeywardena to streamline the SLAS by filling all existing vacancies forthwith. A ministry release said the Commissioner of Examinations has submitted a list of 170 candidates who passed SLAS examination in June last year following a request by Minister Abeywardena to expedite the release of this examination. However the actual number of successful candidates to be recruited will be decided by the Public Service Commission which handles these recruitments. Once the recruitments are made the new recruits will undergo a one year training at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration before receiving their postings, the ministry release added.
