by Sarath Malalasekera A special police squad assigned by Colombo DIG Bodhi Liyanage in a corden and search operation yesterday took into custody 96 suspects who were alleged to have been involved in several criminal acts. The squad were in possession of metal and explosive detectors during the search operation, the Colombo DIG said. Most of the suspects taken into custody are wanted by several police stations in Colombo, DIG Liyanage said. Several suspects who failed to give valid reasons to be in Colombo were detained for further questioning, he said. 'We will continue to conduct these search operations every week, The Colombo DIG added.' |
