Armed gang attacks MPCS directors An armed gang that stormed the meeting of the Director Board of the Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Ltd in Rilaulla- Kandana yesterday morning had assaulted the members of the director board and forced them to sign a resignation letter, according to the Kandana Police sources. The pistol and knife wielding gang had threatened to kill Deputy Chairman Quientus Perera and board members Lawrence Stanley and M.D.Jayaratne unless they left the compound. They have looked for the Chairman of the Society, shouting in filth. A gang member had snatched the bracelet of the Deputy Chairman and taken away Rs.730 from his pocket. They have threatened the staff of the Society if they allow the director board to enter the compound in the future. The gang left after chasing away the directors. |
