Iranians are coming

by Lionel Yodhasinghe

The second batch of 200 Iranian tourists will visit Sri Lanka early next month, Manager of the tour operator in Tehran M. Akbariyan told the Daily News last week.

Mr. Akbariyan said that his company ARSHIA has received a good response from prospective tourists after the members of the first charter group returned home with a good impression of Sri Lanka and the company expects to send more tourists continuously to enjoy and savour the natural and cultural heritage in Sri Lanka.

He said the third group has also been enlisted to be sent to Sri Lanka next March.

"Both trips have been confirmed and we have already finalised arrangements to welcome these Iranian tourists on their arrival in Sri Lanka", ARSHIA's local collaborator Silver Wings' Tour Executive Ikram Mohamed said.

He said that the tourism promotion scheme between Iran and Sri Lanka is gradually strengthening after Iranian airline, Mahan Air began direct flights between Tehran and Colombo last July.
