Rs. 3m to Vavuniya GA for dry ration welfare centres

Rs. 3m has been dispatched to the Government Agent Vavuniya for the purchase of dry rations for distribution at the welfare centres in Vavuniya, on the initiative of the Minister of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena.

This is a sequel to complaints received by the Minister yesterday that dry rations to those in the Welfare Centres had not been issued in December 2001.

The Government Agent has been directed to procure dry rations in the open market and distribute them among the welfare centres.

The Ministry of Social Services manages a fund with assistance provided by the World Food Programme for the purpose of issuing dry rations to the Welfare Centres. Generator at Kilinochchi hospital

Meanwhile there is no truth in the news that there is no power supply to the Kilinochchi hospital, according to Mr. E. Iyathurai, Government Agent Kilinochchi. He has said that the Kilinochchi hospital is equipped with generator and power supply is given through this generator regularly, a release to the media said.
