Chinese PM leaves for India after Bangladesh visit DHAKA, Jan 13 (AFP) - Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji on Sunday left Bangladesh for India, which is in a tense stand-off with Beijing's ally Pakistan. Zhu is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and other Indian officials, although he is not expected to mediate between New Delhi and Islamabad. During his three-day visit to Bangladesh, Zhu promised to narrow the trade gap between the two countries, which have traditionally had close relations. Officials here said Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia accepted Zhu's invitation to visit China and that the trip was likely to take place this year. |
