'UNP win victory of the masses'

by Kurunegala North Group Correspondent.

The nation has cast their vote intelligently to elect the UNF government and under the able leadership of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the country will march forward to prosperity and peace, said Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando addressing a meeting at Ratkarawwa Kurunegala recently after assuming duties as Minister.

He said that the United National Party is the only political party in the country that could solve the burning problems of the masses, therefore let us all forget our differences and live in peace and harmony.

However during the past seven years the income of the rural people has been reduced due to the absence of proper planning and management of the economy and the first priority of the government is to usher, peace to the people and to look at the problems of the people in the correct prospective and take steps to solve them. The people elected us to office to serve them, therefore we have a big responsibility towards them, he said.

Mr. Fernando also added that the victory of the UNP at the general election was the victory of the masses of the country who faced immense economic hardships during the time of the past PA government.

Mrs. Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake, Minister of Women's Affairs and several others also spoke.
