Suresh and Achira Edirisinghe, two of his best friends in the country are the proud possessers of this bat which the lefthandier used like a magic wand to score 688 runs in the series.

Suresh and Achira have followed Lara to every country possible where he plays and have built a strong friendship.

When Lara was injured after a collision whith Marvan Atapattu, the first by his side were Suresh and Achira, who later saw to his every need while he was nursing the injury.

In presenting the bat to Suresh and Achira, Lara wrote on it Friends forever - and autographed it before presenting it to them.

Anyone visiting the office of Gamini Edirisinghe, father of Suresh at 'Auto Court' can see for himself Lara's record breaking bat.

Incidentally Suresh too was a good cricketer and played in the junior teams for St. Joseph's College.
