Commenting on post-election violence in the Hiriyala polling division, the CMEV said that the Police were unable to take action against the alleged perpetrators of the crimes since many of they are in hiding. The letter said political interference has prevented Police from taking action against perpetrators of violent acts. The CMEV has expressed concern over the involvement of politicians in acts of violence. It called for compensation for loss of property and legal action against the culprits irrespective of party affiliations. |
