Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake yesterday urged the two major political parties to take stern action against the political violence that has been reached its climax with 46 deaths.

"I vehemently urge the two major forces to consider this matter as a serious and most urgent issue. If we do not stop this upcoming trend at this stage, the number of killings at a future electioneering would reach a much higher figure," the Commissioner stressed before announcing the final official results yesterday.
