The UNP has requested the IGP to immediately arrest former Defence Deputy Minister Gen. Anuruddha Ratwatte who is allegedly responsible for the massacre of 10 SLMC youths who were UNF supporters at Udatalawinna Madawala on the day of the General election.

The UNP in a press release issued yesterday said the former Deputy Defence Minister should bear full responsibility for the massacre of those 10 youths as it was he who had set up the PA thugs engage in the killing.

The thuggery and killings and the intimidation of innocent voters and election officials perpetrated by Gen. Ratwatte resulted in an election fraud in the entire Kandy District, the release alleged.

The fervent wish of the people who had suffered these intimidations too is that the former Deputy Defence Minister be taken into custody and legal action taken against him. It is therefore the bounden duty of the Police to take immediate action in this regard and pacify the people, the release concluded.
