UNP candidate remanded

Puttalam Additional Magistrate S.A.E. Yeganadan yesterday remanded Puttalam district UNP candidate Palitha Ranga Bandara till November 26 in connection with a double murder in Anamaduwa.

Mr. Bandara appeared before the courts yesterday through his lawyers. The Additional Magistrate ordered that Mr. Bandara be remanded after considering a B reoprt filed by Anamaduwa police.

The police yesterday morning found two bodies of PA supporters at Mahakumbukkaduwa. "We have found more than 20 used bullets of a T-56 weapon", a senior police officer told the Daily News.

The dead were later identified as Sisira Kithsiri (26) and Dharmaratne (32) of Mahakumbukkaduwa, Anamaduwa.

With this duoble murder, the total number of killings in Puttalam during the last five weeks has gone up to five.
